REID AND MASI

With the portrait assignment, I knew I wanted to use two different models that paired together. My original thought was my parents (they were in town a couple weeks ago), but after they said no I turned to my roommate Reid and his dog Maserati (Masi for short). The pictures progress from regular light to red, as I experimented with colored film over the flash (something I had picked up originally for light painting). I played with angles on the flash as well as with the camera, attempting to capture parts of the image with light while letting shadows overtake other areas. I really like how it turned out, with the slow fade of color throughout the images. The reason I used red light instead of other colors is because I allowed Reid to choose the color. He's super creative and suggested the idea to play with a colored flash. On top of that, we also have LED lights behind the couch, so matching the backlight behind him to the flash allowed for the color to not be washed out, giving more life and interest to the images.
